The Maine Elks Association’s annual Camping Weekend in the Forks, held Aug. 22-25, raised $79,485 for the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.
The event was made possible by the many Elks lodges, business sponsors and 250-plus participants from across the state, according to a news release from Mike and Lina Michaud, co-chairs of the event.
This year’s theme was Christmas in the Forks with a Festival of Trees.
The Maine Elks Association MCCP/FORKS Steering Committee exceeded its goal once again this year. The four-year total for the event has reached over $205,000.
Since the mid-1980s the association, through the efforts of its 20 lodges and 11,000-plus members, has raised more than $5.5 million for the cancer program.
