One of Poland junior Damon Martin’s three defensive touchdowns last Friday ranks No. 1 in the MaxPreps Top 5 High School Football Plays of the Week.
On the play, Martin strips the ball away from a Madison ball carrier, causing it to bounce forward and deep into the end zone. Martin picks it up, breaks a tackle, then runs to the other side of the field before turning upfield and sprinting to the other end zone, with the help of stellar blocks from teammates Alex Tamey and Miguel Cyr.
Martin’s 107-yard touchdown return is the first play in this video. It is followed by his 54-yard interception and 41-yard fumble returns for scores.
Martin also ran for 111 yards and two touchdowns and threw a TD pass in Poland’s 48-25 win over the Bulldogs in Madison.
The rest of the MaxPreps list of top plays includes two from the state of Georgia and one apiece for Alabama and Texas. Watch all five plays here.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
