
June L. Goggin Griffin
AUGUSTA – June L. Goggin Griffin, fondly known as “June Bug” or “Juney”, passed away peacefully at the age of 89, on Oct. 14, 2024, at Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta. She was born on March 25, 1935, in Gardiner, to the late Richard and Emma (Hall)Goggin.
June’s genuine joy and cheerful disposition was truly contagious. Her strong values and love of family were a prominent part of her life and character.
June attended Randolph and Gardiner Area High Schools. After graduating, June married Alfred Griffin, her high school sweetheart. They married on July 11, 1953. They then raised three children, Barbie, Susan, and Peter in Randolph. She worked as a Secretary at the State and for J.F. Hodgkins in Randolph. Then in 1984 June and Griff moved to Port Charlotte, Florida.
June enjoyed Maine and Florida. She loved the ocean, especially Capitol Island. Also, she loved spending time with her family and friends and going places and special trips. She enjoyed reading, crosswords, and in her younger years knitting and ceramics. As well, piano and music were her passions, playing the piano gave her great joy. June was most proud of her family and says, “Family and all that I can do for them is important. Family is number one, and to be happy with everybody- to have a good life.” She was loved dearly by her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter, and numerous family members and everyone that knows her.
June was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Emma Goggin, Sister, Barbara Goggin, and brother, Larry Goggin. Her mother-in-law, Mildred Fyfe. Best friend and cousin, Marilyn Verhille.
June is survived by her husband, Al (Griff); Daughters, Barbie Griffin (Joline), Susan Maganti (Mac); son, Peter Griffin (Cindy); grandchildren, Melissa and Jennifer Moody, Alecia (John) Talbot, Adam Griffin; great granddaughter, Isla; other grandchildren, Ravi Maganti, Madhu Learned and Vasu Maganti; sisters-in-law, Blanche Goggin and Kathleen Griffin; stepsister, Janet Hatch; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
We wish to thank the whole staff of Eagles Landing Alpha along with the other departments that helped June through her time at the Maine Veterans’ Home.
We wish to invite our family and friends to a Celebration of Life that will be held at the Augusta Elks Club, 397 Civic Center, Augusta, on Sunday. October 27, from 12:-3 p.m. Arrangements and guidance are under the direction of Staples Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
