John E. Ducharme Jr.
GREENVILLE, SC – John E Ducharme, Jr. passed peacefully into his eternal rest and reward on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, at his home in Greenville, SC, surrounded by his family. He was born in Sanford, Maine, Sept. 23,1934, to John and Marion Ducharme, the 6th son of nine children.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Greenville, SC; his children, Fannie-Lynn Winship (Floyd) of Berwick, Maine, Jack Ducharme (Denise) of Madison, Maine, Leta Willis (Jim) of Greenville, SC., Karen Lacy (Bill) of Lutz, Fla., Robert Newton (Michelle) of Wesley Chapel, Fla. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Nancy Clark (Fred) of North Berwick. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Rachel; and first wife, Louise Dustin.
His early years were spent in mills in the Sanford area. After accepting Jesus as his Savior, he completed Biblical studies at Glen Cove Bible College. He served the Lord as pastor of Levant Village Baptist Church followed by Knox Ridge Baptist Church. After a short time away from the ministry and a move to Florida, he served as the Seniors Pastor for First Baptist Church, Brandon, Fla. followed by time as pastor at Belmont Baptist, Tampa Fla., then attended New Hope Baptist, Zephyrhills, Fla.
A teacher, rather than a preacher, he taught numerous Bible studies in many towns including at Ramblewood Mobile Home Park, Zephyrhills. He was great at making complex biblical principles understandable and applicable to daily life. He also organized many trips abroad including trips to Israel, England and other places while serving at First Baptist in Brandon.
He now enjoys the reward of his Godly life, resting in the arms of his Savior.
Celebrations of Dad’s Life will be held in Florida on Nov. 9, 2024, and in New Hampshire on Nov. 23, 2024.
