CHELSEA — Healthy Communities of the Capital Area recently announced a new StoryWalk location at Chelsea Elementary School, 566 Togus Road, hosted by SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educator, Courtney Whitney and Chelsea Elementary School’s Garden Committee.
A ribbon cutting ceremony for the StoryWalk is planned during the school’s Harvest Fest, at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.
StoryWalks build children’s interest in reading while promoting free, healthy outdoor activity, according to a news release from the organization.
HCCA provides a wide variety of StoryWalks for both permanent podiums and portable walks. The organization connects with local libraries and organizations to share different stories throughout Kennebec County.
StoryWalks are a free service provided by HCCA. The following locations house StoryWalks in Kennebec County: Readfield Community Library, China Primary School Nature Trail, Viles Arboretum, Farrington Elementary School, Gardiner Regional Middle School, and The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Gardiner.
