As the outgoing At-large city council member for Augusta, I’m putting my full support behind Bobby-Jo Bechard. I have witnessed firsthand the challenges our community faces, most notably housing and rising costs, and I believe Bechard is the leader we need to address our most pressing issues.
Our neighbors’ being unhoused are at the top of our minds. Bobby-Jo works every day with the intersection of these neighbors who are also struggling with mental health issues or substance use. She is passionate and grounded in her work to make our community thrive and empowers others to collaborate to solve our collective problems, backed up by her impressive background as a director of peer support programs.
I know that our city is in good hands with Bobby-Jo. Let’s come together to vote for the most qualified candidate on Nov. 5: Bobby-Jo Bechard!

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
