Judy Tunkle has a reputation for digging into challenging issues and getting things done. I saw that firsthand when Judy stepped up to bring high-speed internet to Dresden. Forty percent of Dresden residents lack reliable internet service. Judy didn’t know a lot about broadband when she started, but she proved to be a quick study.

Judy created and chaired the Dresden Broadband Committee, which worked collaboratively with Wiscasset and Woolwich to go after one-time federal funding available through the state for broadband. With her leadership, the town provided the necessary match to be part of a $6 million award to eight towns in Lincoln County and Woolwich. Consolidated Communications is expected to start work on the network in 2025.

At the State House, Judy will continue to tackle important issues that affect her district and the state.
