Evangeline Leta Richardson

ANSON – Evangeline Leta Richardson, 81, went to be with The Lord and her loved ones on Oct. 20, 2024. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Evangeline, Beanie, as most knew her by, was the youngest of 13 children of her father Joseph Jeremiah Thebarge and mother Leanna (Caron) Thebarge.

After graduating from Madison High School, Beanie met the love of her life Jerome Richardson. They enjoyed many dates at dance halls throughout the area, but their special place was at Lake George where they fell deeply in love. They later married and had four wonderful children, Ron, Donna, David, and Dale. The Richardson household was one of love, fun, and occasionally a broken window or two. Beanie’s children will tell anyone that they would not have changed their childhood for the world.

Beanie lived her life to the fullest and never took a second for granted. Some of her more memorable experiences were traveling with family, the concerts she attended, motorcycle rides, white water rafting (while not knowing how to swim…), a hot air ballon ride and finally, the cherry on top, sky diving at the age of seventy-nine. It took a small army to get her in the plane and a swift barrel roll to get her out but, she was smiling from ear to ear. On her more peaceful days, she could be found at the kitchen table eating an ice-cream sandwich or sitting on her lawn chair enjoying the sun and the breeze blowing through the maple tree in her front yard.

Beanie loved her friends and grandchildren more than anything. She never missed a birthday or holiday, or special event. She was a family woman. Her grandchildren, although some will use the word spoiled, were deeply loved by her. She would do anything for them including ice cream for breakfast, making their lunches for them, making sweet treats for their birthdays and holidays, taking them swimming in the heat of summer and simply being their biggest cheerleader. There was fierce debate over who the favorite was and as it turns out, whoever was talking to her that moment had the honor of being the favorite. She loved them all with everything she had.

Fortunately for everyone, this love did not just stop with her family, she cared for everyone and was known in the community as one of the kindest and most giving people around. There were many days when she would be feeding and taking care of kids she did not know until that day, and she loved every minute of it. She was a provider. She babysat many of the neighborhood kids in the area and if you asked them, they were her kids/ grandkids too.

Beanie’s friendships were great in number however she held a special spot for her dearest friend Charlene Davis, best friend for 81 years, as well as her close friends Mary Ellen, Silva, and Erma. The stories they could tell!

Beanie was predeceased by her father Joseph Jeremiah Thebarge, mother Leanna Caron Thebarge; her dearly loved husband Jerome Richardson, brothers Armond, Ernie, Walther, and Jeff, her sisters Grace, Florence, Lydia, Eva, Eveyln, and Lena, and best friends Mary Ellen and Leo Beaulieu.

She is survived by her children Ronald wife Nicole, Donna husband Joseph, David wife Sharon and Dale wife Tanya; her siblings Edwin and Edmund; her grandchildren, Coady, Kaeson, Levi, Elizabeth, Donica, Christina, Jenica, Logan, Trent, Abby, Jordan; and 12 great grandchildren.
