As constituents, we have the golden opportunity to elect a candidate for House District 64 this November who recognizes where we need a politician’s focus most in rural Maine; affordable housing.
I recently worked with Maine Youth Power, an organization that empowers rural Maine youth in political spaces. They reminded me that what I bring to the discussion still matters. As a lifelong Watervillian, I believe electing Flavia DeBrito is our most advantageous choice.
DeBrito, an MYP-endorsed candidate, served on the Waterville City Council for five years, advocating for those who struggled to secure housing. As a woman with lived Section 8 experience, I remain convinced that DeBrito has our best interest in mind, regardless of rent or own status.
DeBrito continued to stay motivated toward affordable housing while serving on various committees in Waterville and I do not doubt that she will prevail in Augusta!

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
