SIDNEY — A fire destroyed a graphic design and screen printing business late Thursday.
A fire was reported around 9:30 p.m. at Colorgraphics at 75 Drummond Road. Responding firefighters found the detached structure that housed the business almost entirely engulfed in flames, Sidney Fire Chief Richard Jandreau said.
“They lost everything inside: four big printers for shirts and signs, computers, personal stuff,” he said. “The structure, they’ll probably have to tear it down. A lot of the rafters and everything is pretty much gone.”
Sidney fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire, Jandreau said.
Colorgraphics was housed in a garage detached from the home of the business owner. The building and all of the equipment was deemed a total loss.
Jandreau commended firefighters for preventing flames from spreading to other nearby houses.
“It was spreading a little before we got there, but we saved the house and all the dwellings around it,” he said.
Firefighters remained on scene until about 1:30 a.m., Jandreau said. Crews from Oakland, Belgrade, Rome, Smithfield and Waterville responded.
Jandreau said he believes the fire was sparked by an electrical issue, though his department’s investigation has not yet concluded.
