NORRIDGEWOCK –
Frederick Joseph Foss, Sr., 81, passed away on Oct. 16, 2024 after a long battle with COPD.
He was born on Feb. 8, 1943, in Skowhegan, to Linwood and Lillian (York) Foss. He attended schools in Athens, Madison and Skowhegan.
He worked at Norrwock Shoe and New Balance, but his true love was carpentry. He enjoyed working on his home, building furniture or making wooden toys for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Fred always had a smile and a friendly “Hello!”. He would never turn down anyone who asked for help – even after falling from a roof caused him to live with chronic back pain and an implant in his spine to help with the pain.
He was predeceased by his parents Linwood and Lillian (York) Foss; his wife of over 50 years, Donna (Garland) Foss; sisters Frances Tuttle, Adeline “Abby” Smith and Irma Atwood and brothers Earl “Sunny” Foss and Clayton Foss.
He is survived by his daughters Kimberly Petit and her husband Michael of Sarasota, Fla. and Holly Mullen and her husband Robert of Norridgewock, his son, Frederick Foss, Jr. and his wife Shana of Skowhegan; grandchildren Amanda Jones, Joseph Foss and his wife Mikaela, Alex McDougal and his wife Becca, Charisma McDougal, Spencer Smith and his wife Emily, Brandi Jae Harris and her wife Liz, Matthew Mullen and his wife Emily, and Sam Mullen and his wife Liz; sisters Ruth Moore and Shirley Gordon; great-grandchildren Jaxon Smith, Sophie Ann Mullen and Colton Foss.
There will be no funeral or visiting hours per his request.
Arrangements under the direction of Dan and Scott’s Cremation and Funeral Services, 445 Waterville Rd., Skowhegan, ME 04976.
