OAKLAND — Fidium Fiber has expanded its symmetrical, multi-gig speed internet service to Oakland, as well as parts of Belgrade and Sidney, making its future-proof fiber network available to more than 4,000 homes and businesses in the community.
“I am happy that the citizens of Oakland have another option for fast internet service. This will help the remote workers, telehealth medicine needed and remote learning for our students,” Oakland Town Manager Kelly Pinney-Michaud said in a news release.
Today, more than 270,000 Maine homes and businesses have access to Fidium, including Oakland, with more availability coming soon across the state, including in Fairfield. Residents and businesses may learn more and sign up for updates about future service availability at FidiumFiber.com.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
