A Hartland man has been charged with sexual abuse of a minor after a monthslong investigation, according to police.
Christopher Todd, 35, was arrested at his residence Friday on a warrant for three Class C counts of sexual abuse of a minor, Somerset County Sheriff Dale Lancaster said in a statement issued Tuesday morning.
The Sheriff’s Office obtained the arrest warrant after detectives conducted the investigation that began with a complaint Aug. 12, Lancaster said. The report alleged a sexual assault involving a person under the age of 16.
Todd made his initial court appearance Monday, Lancaster said. A judge set his bail at $400 cash, with special conditions that he have no contact with the alleged victim, though he is allowed contact with other children at the discretion of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Todd’s bail had been initially set Friday at $10,000 cash, with special conditions that he have no contact with the victim and children under the age of 18, the sheriff said.
Todd was being held at the Somerset County Jail in Madison as of Tuesday around 11 a.m., online jail records show.
