NORRIDGEWOCK – Frederick Joseph Foss, Sr., 81, passed away on Oct. 16, 2024, in Skowhegan. Frederick, or “Fred” as he was known to family and friends, was born on Feb. 8, 1948, the son of Earl and Lillian (York) Foss.
He attended Madison schools and proudly graduated from Skowhegan Area High School in 1981 after attending night classes. Fred worked in area shoe factories, the papermill in Madison, and construction until he retired. He was a master craftsman and built many beautiful pieces of furniture for his loved ones.
He was predeceased by his wife Donna (Garland) Foss; parents Earl and Lillian (York) Foss; sisters Francis Tuttle, Adeline Smith, and Erma Atward, and brothers Earl “Sonny” Foss Jr. and Clayton Foss.
He is survived by his children, son Frederick Foss, Jr. with his wife Shanna of Skowhegan, grandson Alex with his wife Becca, and granddaughters Ellois, Delia, and Charisma “Kizzy” Therian; daughter Holly Mullen with her husband Robert of Norridgewock, grandson Spencer Smith with his wife Elizabeth and great-grandson Jaxon, granddaughter Brandi Smith of Seattle, Wash. and grandson Joseph “Joe” Foss with his wife Mikaela with great-grandson Colton; daughter Kimberly Foss Petit of Florida, grandson Matt Mullen with his wife Emily with great-granddaughter Sophie of Augusta and grandson Sam Mullen with his wife Liz of Augusta; along with sister Ruth Moore and Shirley Gordon.
There will be no funeral or visiting hours per Fred’s request, though there will be a graveside service in the spring.
