WATERVILLE — A talk, “Kennebec River history: Moosehead Lake to the Atlantic Ocean,” is set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Waterville Historical Society at Redington Museum, 62 Silver St.
Winslow native Ray Caron, president of the Friends of Fort Halifax, is this month’s history talk presenter. He plans to share a broader view, beyond Winslow and the Fort, to the value of the Kennebec River throughout history as it travels from its origins to the Atlantic Ocean. He will guide attendees down the river from Moosehead Lake.
There will be historic photos, maps and artifacts with connections to the Kennebec River. Caron will incorporate items from the collection at Waterville Historical Society into his presentation.
Doors opens at 2 p.m. for light refreshments and socializing. Admission is free; donations are accepted.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
