Margaret “Peggy” Emma Firlotte
WEST GARDINER – In the early morning of Nov. 1, 2024, our loving mother Margaret “Peggy” Emma Firlotte, 96 years of age, passed away peacefully at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta. Peggy was born in West Gardiner, Maine on July 22, 1928, to Harry and Elizabeth (Bruce) Howard.
Peggy married Vincent (Vinny) James Firlotte on June 8, 1951, and they made their home in West Gardiner on the Pond Road. They went on to spend 71 wonderful years together, until Vinny passed away on May 28, 2022.
Peggy worked for the Shoe Shop and spent 25 years as a teller for the National Bank of Gardiner. She enjoyed her family and friends, quilting, fur babies and her birds, especially the hummingbirds (hummies).
Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Vinny; parents, Harry and Elizabeth Howard; brothers, Paul, Harry, George, Myles, Hazen, Earl, Richard and sisters, Mona and Betty.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Linda Gordan Ramsay and her husband John of West Gardiner, sons, Michael J. Firlotte of Gardiner, Christopher H. Firlotte and his wife Kristie of Manchester; grandchildren, Michael, Michaela, Evan, JoAnn, and Nikolas; great grandchildren, Leon, Ethan, Noelle and Wyatt; and her many nieces and nephews from all around.
A special thank you to the Campbell family and all of the wonderful neighbors for all of their love and attention given to our family over the years. Also, to the dedicated and loving staff at Maine Veterans Home for your compassion taking care of our Mother, Peggy.
We find comfort in knowing that Mom’s legacy lives on through the lessons she taught us, the love she shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
Peggy’s and Vinny’s graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, at the Cherry Hill Cemetery, High Street, West Gardiner.
Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
