Though many Americans were surprised by Donald Trump’s return to another four years in the White House, the rest of the world was not. Many delighted and many disappointed.
They know who America is! Joe Biden would often say “that is not who we are!” when embarrassing behavior was on display in the USA. Wrong, Joe! You had us mistaken for a country long ago that no longer exists.
Yes, the yearning for Jim Crow and women knowing “their place is in the kitchen!” lives in the hearts of many, but the nation that pulled together to defeat fascism and help save the world from tyranny is only a fond memory of that greatest generation.
A nation that accumulated $5 trillion of debt in its first 224 years now has managed to run up $30 trillion of debt in 24 years. A nation that is incapable of pulling together and sacrificing has accepted passing these costs to future generations. How do I know it’s accepted? Because it occurs year after year whether a Democrat or Republican is in charge.
Therefore Donald Trump is the ideal president of the USA (Ultra Self Absorbed). Formerly “the home of the brave,” he now rules over a nation that fears an open border, a rising power in China (who received much of the $30 trillion) and the prospect of seeing a generation unable to afford a home.
Americans continue to make the greatest carbon footprint per capita in the world, and we will certainly see that “drill baby drill” will continue to be the mantra. The world knows that America’s integrity and morality are well represented by Donald Trump.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
