WISCASSET – The three-day Wiscasset Holiday Marketfest is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday, Dec. 6-8, in Wiscasset Village, and features family events Friday and Saturday evenings.

There will be a visit from Santa who arrives via a light parade. Children get treats and cocoa, adults get hot toddies. Sheep will be onsite for petting and marshmallows will be available for roasting. Ornament workshops, a shopping event just for children, songs of the season from a female barbershop quartet, wagon rides and more are planned, according to a news release from Lucia Droby with the marketplace organizer.
The weekend’s free raffle for dining will be displayed in participating storefronts and the Christmas Cookie Challenge is a call to local bakers. Hang around until after the judging for the chance to sample the entries.
The annual Wreaths Around the Holidays display is a friendly competition for People’s Choice. The Nickels-Sortwell House will be open for tours, while the old barn next door will feature artisan-made gifts. A family friendly Snow Ball is a dance party for all also is planned.
The event is a partnership between Wiscasset Creative Alliance and Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce.
