WATERVILLE — One person was killed early Monday in a single-vehicle crash on Trafton Road in Waterville, officials said.
The crash occurred at about 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of Trafton and West River roads, according to Maj. Jason Longley of the Waterville Police Department.
“It appears as though a black Jeep Renegade was traveling west on Trafton Road when it lost control and left the roadway,” Longley wrote in a statement. “It has been confirmed that the lone operator of the vehicle is deceased.”
The driver’s body was taken to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, but had yet to be identified, Longley said.
The crash was still under investigation later Monday.
Trafton Road runs near the line between Waterville and Sidney, while West River Road runs beside the Kennebec River.
Officials might release further details of the crash as the investigation continues, Longley said.
A crash near the same intersection in June killed one person and seriously injured another.
