They’re back. The “Bad Sisters” is back on Apple TV+ and we’re grateful. Are we not? Does it not feel good to be Irish again? Well, ready or not here they are, the wonderful “Bad” Garvey Sisters.
All are wonderfully played by an assortment of gifted women with co-creater Sharon Horgan (as Eva), Sarah Greene (as Bibi), Eva Birthistle (as Ursula), Eve Hewson (as Becka) and Anne-Marie Duff (as the abused Grace).
I warn you. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride.
JP from Hell will be back here in snap shots. We hated him and wish him well in Hades.
A warning: This opener won’t be full of balloons and funny tricks. It’s much darker and scarier.
Remember Roger (Michael Smiley) from across the street who helped Grace kill JP?
Well, he’s back and full of guilt, and worse, his nosey sister Angelica (a wonderful classical Fiona Shaw) has moved in. She’s very Irish and annoying.
In the first two episodes, we meet a funny but quirky Asian detective, Detective Constable Una Houlihan, (Thaddea Graham, 27, a Northern Irish actress who was born in Changsha, China), who helps and distracts Detective Loftus (Barry Ward).
Okay: There will be a wedding with flowers and lots of salmon and booze. There will be drawers opened to reveal hidden objects. There will be a blood-spotted T-shirt and a knife in a kitchen cabinet. There will be a leather satchel found in a river that holds a … never mind.
And then there will be something so unexpected, and terrible just ahead, that you will hate, and it will change everything. Stay tuned. You’re about to enter the new world of the “Bad Sister” Garveys. Hold your breath.
The “Bad Sisters” streams on Apple TV+.
