GREENE — A car fire ignited grass on the side of Daggett Hill Road, which spread into a wooded area on property belonging to Central Maine Power, officials said Tuesday.
Early reports indicated a vehicle fire broke out on the side of Daggett Hill Road, adjacent to Route 202. The fire reportedly spread into the woods and then onto Central Maine Power property.
CMP spokesperson Jonathan Breed said the fire caused no structural damage to the poles and electric service was uninterrupted.
Multiple fire departments responded to the blaze, and firefighters shut down traffic on Route 202 and Daggett Hill Road while a helicopter from Maine Forest Service was reportedly requested.
Greene Fire Department and Maine Forest Service were not immediately available for details.
