SKOWHEGAN — The Margaret Chase Smith Library is set to hold the annual Leeke-Shaw Lecture on International Affairs at noon on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 56 Norridgewock Ave.

Claude Berube will give a lecture on “The Criteria for Naval Victory in the Pacific: WW2 and Today.” Berube taught for two decades both as a military officer and civilian in the political science and history departments at the United States Naval Academy.
Now an adjunct faculty member at the Naval War College and the Institute of World Politics, he retired as a commander from the U.S. Navy Reserve after serving for 24 years, including 10 on active duty.
He is a senior editor for the Center for International Maritime Security, as well as a contributing editor at War on the Rocks and the author or co-author of several books.
The Lewiston native recently moved back to the state, where he is working on his next book and is the owner and principal of Seaward Strategies LLC.
A box lunch following the lecture costs $10 each. Payment for lunch will be accepted the day of the lecture via cash, check, or credit card. To RSVP for the event, call the library at 207-474-7133.
