This is a letter to offer acknowledgement to our sisters who acted 100 years ago for equal rights. More importantly, this is a plea to incite action during a crucial window of opportunity.
Please send letters to President Biden now!
The 28th Amendment to the Constitution, better known as the Equal Rights Amendment, must be published by the archivist! “Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.”
President Biden needs to direct the National Archivist to publish the passage of the Amendment in the Constitution.
According to the National Bar Association, the Equal Rights Amendment, now our 28th Amendment, has met all constitutional requirements. Thirty-eight states have ratified the amendment, which provides two-thirds majority of our states.
President Biden has one last chance to stand for the equity and equality this amendment would provide all Americans, especially women and the LGBTQIA+ community.
President Biden leaves office in January and letters to him should be sent by you soon to publish equality in the Constitution. Send mail by Dec. 10 to: President Biden, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W., Washington, DC 20500.
Thank you.

We believe it’s important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
