Charlotte M. Morris

PORTLAND – It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our sister Charlotte, “Baychar” Morris, 75, in Portland on Oct. 13, 2024, who passed with friends by her side. Charlotte was born in Lewiston on Sept. 25, 1949, to Dr. Craig and Charlotte (Read) Morris of Augusta.

Charlotte or affectionately called ‘Baychar’ by her older brother when he was too young to pronounce ‘Baby Char’ was always an active and loving New England girl who grew up during the turbulent times of the 60s. In her youth, when not travelling around Europe, Baychar took part in the social revolution of the times, walking the notorious beaches of Martha’s Vinyard, sharing in the culture of Boston and protesting the war in Washington.

Also, at an early age Baychar gravitated toward the Arts and found her passion in the unusual skill of making paper. She would build her forms, mix the soup, pour out her medium and add in the mix of various colors. Through these artistic pursuits Baychar met artists from all over the country. During her adult years Baychar enjoyed being a homeowner and spending here time between her condo in Sugarloaf and her home in Eastport.

Baychar will always be remembered as a loving sister and aunt and in the beautiful way she had of living life for today. Baychar was predeceased by her father and mother and is survived by her two brothers Craig Morris of Augusta and David Morris of Freeman Maine her nieces Mariah Morris of Siesta Key Florida, Annalee Morris-Polley of Augusta, Christian Morris of Las Vegas, Grace Norton of Augusta, Megan Morris of Salt Lake City, and nephew Tyler Morris of Portland.

Arrangements have been made with Cremation of Southern Maine and her ashes will be scattered in Eastport at a later date in order to celebrate Baychar’s artistic and colorful life.
