Hello, BWW
The popular chain restaurant Buffalo Wild Wings Go has leased space at 34 Western Ave. in Augusta.

A spokesperson for the restaurant did not respond Tuesday on when the restaurant will open, but the former Amato’s building has a fresh blue shade of paint and a “Buffalo Wild Wings GO” sign. The location had once been home to Dunkin’.
The Augusta location marks the first BWW in central Maine, with the closest restaurant locations in Auburn and Topsham. The GO format offers takeout and delivery.
The restaurant chain is under the Inspire Brands corporate umbrella along with Arby’s, Baskin-Robbins, Dunkin’, Jimmy John’s and Sonic.
Buffalo Wild Wings serves chicken wings with a variety of options, appetizers and burgers.

The end of an era
More than a decade after it served its last customer, the vacant Kentucky Fried Chicken storefront at 13 Water St. was demolished this week.
A lone excavator tore through the building, which is owned by North River Lockwood 1 LLC, which also owns the Hathaway Creative Center. It’s unclear what the company will put in the now-vacant lot, according to Waterville Code Enforcement Officer Adam Bradstreet.
The building had been vacant since at least 2011, though it’s unclear exactly when the KFC shut down. Another KFC remains open at 444 Kennedy Memorial Drive.
