WATERVILLE — The seventh annual Joy to the Ville community celebration is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, in concert with Waterville Creates, the Colby College Museum of Art, the Waterville Public Library, and the Children’s Discovery Museum, as they celebrate the magic of the season with movies, art making and play.

The event is free and open to all, unless otherwise noted.

Festivities at the Paul J. Schupf Art Center, 93 Main St., include: Muppet Christmas Carol at 10 a.m.; a glass blowing demonstration, feroshiki gift wrapping and felt mushroom workshop from noon-2 p.m.; green screen photos are set for 2-4 p.m.; and Kingleville Santa visits from noon-4 p.m.

Glass artist Jonathan Railo plans to creates icicle ornaments in a live glassblowing demonstration.

Artist Kim Bernard is set to assist people with hand- and machine-sewing to make unique fabric gift wraps, then practice different tying techniques to create a wrap that gets passed from gifter to giftee. All supplies will be included. Participants can also bring their own fabric to work with. For tickets, visit

Artist Delilah Iris will help participants sew charming mushroom ornaments using hand stitching and wool felt.

“The Nutcracker” will be staged at 2 and 7 p.m. at the Waterville Opera House — People can experience Bossov Ballet Theatre’s rendition.
