Hanson Gene Weed

FREEDOM – On Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, Hanson Gene Weed of Freedom, went to be with his beloved wife Linda who passed away just a few months ago. They were married in 1993, and although they never had any children, they had many nieces and nephews that they treated as their own.

He was born on Dec. 10, 1954, to Merton and Lucille Weed and had a brother Eric and sister Jean, who all predeceased him.

He worked at Scott Paper Company for about 20 years until they closed then went to work for Madison Paper Company. He retired from Madison Paper several years ago and enjoyed every minute of his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved the outdoors. His range, where he spent most of the daylight hours, was his home away from home. We will miss his dry sense of humor, his quiet demeanor, and above all the companionship he gave to so many in the family.

He is survived by his niece, Leslie; nephews, Kevin and wife Cheryl; Shawn and wife Jackie, and Eric Jr, brother-in-law James Jurdak and wife Nancy, sisters-in-law, Sally Derosby, Sylvia Cobb, Lila Hallowell and husband Dana and Patti Weed, along with several nieces and nephews.

Respecting his wishes, no services will be held. This spring we will scatter his and Linda’s ashes.

For those who wish, donations can be made in memory of Hanson to:
