Kenneth Earle Harvey

HALLOWELL – Kenneth Earle Harvey, of Hallowell, passed away on Dec. 11, 2024 at the age of 90.

Born in Boston, Mass., the son of Earle and Agnes Harvey, Ken was raised and educated in Belmont, Mass. His lifelong interest and participation in tennis, squash, camping, fishing, stamp collecting, as well as Bridge, began in his school years. He attended Dartmouth College, graduating in 1955, and earned an MBA from Dartmouth’s Amos Tuck Business School the following year.

Ken’s first job was in Rochester, N.Y. at the Haloid Company, known today as Xerox. There, he met Virginia on a blind date and married in 1957. The family business, E. B. Harvey and Associates, an aftermarket auto parts business, called him back to Massachusetts in 1959 which he ran for 25 years until retirement in 2001. After living in Framingham, Mass. for 40 years, Ken and Ginny moved to Hallowell in 2009.

Whether on the tennis court, at the Bridge table or fishing on the lake, Ken had a knack for conversation and finding connections between friends and family. Before moving to Maine, Ken enjoyed mentoring potential new business owners with the Worcester SCORE chapter. His greatest passion was spending summers on Great Pond, Belgrade and sharing the family camp, known as “Try ‘N Rest”, with family and friends.

Ken was predeceased by Ginny, his wife of 57 years; and his younger brother, Robert.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen Leese (Simon) and sons Carl Harvey (Nina) and David Harvey (Denise); as well as grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Melissa, Alex, Kristen, and Kelsey; and great-grandchildren, Amelia, Owen, Oakley, Henry, Avery, Alex, and Hazel.

The family will hold a celebration of Ken’s life at a later date at the lake.
