Nina B. Hindman
AUGUSTA – Nina B. Hindman, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec, 22, 2024, at the Glenridge LTC facility in Augusta, Maine.
Nina was born in Omaha, Neb, on April 7, 1931, the daughter of Preston Jennings and Nellie (Kinsley) Daniels. She grew up in Blair and Bellevue, Neb,, the third of five siblings, and graduated from Bellevue High School, class of 1948. It was during those high school years that she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, James R. Hindman, and the two were married on Oct. 7, 1950. For 71 years they lived and loved as they worked and raised their family in Omaha, Boston, Augusta, Hartford and finally back to Augusta. Wherever they landed, Nina always made a lovely home.
Nina was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and the Green Street UMC.
Nina loved shopping and lunching with family and friends. She delighted in finding the best bargains. Nina had a love of jewelry that came from selling jewelry during her early working life with her sister Mary. Nina worked in several different occupations throughout her life, but most enjoyed her time at the Gilbert School Library in Augusta and as a receptionist at Westledge and DeWolfe Real Estate companies in Avon, Conn.
Nina was predeceased by her parents, Preston and Nellie Daniels; all four of her siblings, Preston Jr., Mary, Robert, and Margie; and her husband, James R. Hindman.
Nina is survived by her three children, Kimberly Mills (Gary) of Augusta, Terry Babine (Shawn) of Scarborough, and Christopher Hindman (Kathleen) of West Hartford, Conn.; grandsons, Matthew Mills (Heather Valley), Andrew Mills (Lyndsi), Olivia Babine (Nick Petromelis); and seven great grandchildren.
Her family would like to thank all involved in her care over her last few years. Your kindness and help are much appreciated. The caring staff at Glenridge LTC have been exceptional; and we appreciate your patience and care of our mother.
A private service for family will be held at the Maine Veteran’s Cemetery in Augusta later in the spring.
