Penny A. (Parker) Kaplan
NORTH MONMOUTH – Mrs. Penny A. (Parker) Kaplan, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, at home. She was the loving wife to Daniel N. Kaplan with whom she shared 50 years of marriage.
Penny was born Feb. 10, 1957, in Lewiston. She was the daughter of Phyllis M. (Dow) Parker of Litchfield and the late Herbert A. Parker. She grew up in Litchfield and graduated from Monmouth Academy, then went on to further her education by studying Nursing at the University of Maine Augusta.
Penny was a stay-at-home mom and took great pleasure in being a homemaker and taking care of her family.
Her proudest achievement was being her grandchildren’s “Nana” who they called almost daily and felt her support even when they weren’t able to visit. Her family was her greatest joy and she treasured the time she spent with her family and friends. Hanging out with her grandchildren, having sleepovers and family events, holidays and capturing all the activities in photos and videos were also favorite pastimes. Nana also had an endless supply of popsicles.
A devoted Christian, Penny always shared her love of Jesus with her family and taught them how to pray and all about His love. She loved Christmas cheer and giving her family gifts (especially the children!). Her favorite place to go was the family camp in Ocean Point. She always looked forward to and enjoyed sunsets with her Dan at camp.
She loved sitting by the window overlooking her view of Wilson Pond and watching the birds at the many feeders she had in her backyard. She could often be heard talking of how blessed she felt by Jesus because of her loving husband, beautiful home and wonderful family she had.
In addition to her loving husband, Dan, and her mother, Phyllis, Penny is survived by her daughters Jessie Kaplan and her partner Roy Drayton of Scotland, Lillian Baker and her husband Tyler of Monmouth, Samantha Kieltyka and her husband Brandon of Winthrop and Tiffany Kaplan of North Monmouth. She is also survived by her six treasured grandchildren, Orion, Leila, Luke, Aria, Ella and Adalynn; as well as her brother, Gary Parker and her sister, Kathy Riley; and many nieces, nephews; and her mini golden doodle, Sandy.
Penny’s visitation will be in the Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop on Jan. 11, 2025, from 1 to 2 p.m. Her memorial service will be in the funeral home beginning at 2 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Arrangements and guidance are in the care of the Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Roberts Funeral Home website, http://www.khrfuneralhomes.com
