Priscilla H. Pepper
BELGRADE – Priscilla H. Pepper, 88, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Providence, R.I., on Nov. 30, 1936, the daughter of the late Clarence T. and Helen G. (Lippitt) Murdock. Priscilla graduated from Providence Classical High School in 1954.
In 1954, Priscilla married Gordon J. Pepper and they started a family together in Rhode Island. In 1968, the couple purchased a dairy farm and relocated their family to Belgrade. They ran the farm until 1986. Priscilla would milk over 100 cows daily and raised seven children. She was truly a multi-talented woman and lived a life full of her love of nature and the arts. Priscilla enjoyed reading, learning, and sharing her knowledge with others. She had a passion for homeopathy and was often consulted by family and her community for her expertise.
Priscilla excelled at writing, drawing and painting, playing the piano and singing, and was an excellent cook. She enjoyed going to church and spending summers gardening and swimming at Gould Pond with family. Priscilla could often be found nursing back to health yet another animal – domesticated or wild – that just needed a chance. She was always surrounded by her loved ones, her cats and dogs.
Priscilla was predeceased by two daughters, Cynthia M. Pepper-Morin and Hilda R. Duplessis; a granddaughter, Katherine Spiller; and five of her six sisters, Marion Kelley, Dorothy Pomeroy, Harriet Pepper, Lois Lyons and Alice Parker.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Gordon J. Pepper of Belgrade; her children, Elizabeth A. Pepper of Belgrade, William “Billy” Pepper of Fayette and his wife Becky, David E. Pepper, Leslie M. Pepper and his wife Kerry, Amy L. Faucher and her husband Jeff, and Hilda’s husband Dickie, all of Belgrade; a sister, Helen Furrow of Fairfax, Va.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews; and cousins; and not to be forgotten, her oldest and dearest childhood friend of 83 years, Hilma (Wieselquist) Lacour of Dover, Del.
There will be no public visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A burial will be held at a later date at the Pepper Family Cemetery in Belgrade.
