AUGUSTA — An Augusta man was arrested Wednesday after threatening a person at a grocery store, police said.

Isaiah Q. Butler, 28, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct loud unreasonable noise, violating condition of release, refusing to submit to arrest or detention physical force, criminal mischief, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and violation of probation.

Butler, described by police as a transient resident of Augusta, allegedly used what officials would only describe as a “blunt force object” to threaten a victim at the Hannaford supermarket at 118 Cony St. in Augusta, resulting in the criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon charge.

No one was hurt in the incident, according to Deputy Police Chief Jesse Brann of Augusta.

Brann said police had warned Butler previously Wednesday for alleged disorderly conduct. Butler then continued the alleged conduct at the Big Apple at 36 Stone St. in Augusta and at Hannaford, where he reportedly broke and stole products, before the alleged threatening incident occurred.

The alleged incident was reported at 1:22 p.m. Wednesday. Several Augusta officers responded to the call.
