AUGUSTA – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Emma Boivin on Jan. 2, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 31, 1939, Emma was the cherished matriarch of a large and loving family. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she touched the lives of many with her kindness, compassion, and enduring love.
Emma was one of 13 siblings, a testament to her deep-rooted bonds and lifelong commitment to family.
She is survived by her beloved husband, O’Neil EJ Boivin, Sr. of 66 years of marriage; her children, Jill, O’Neil, Timathy, and Danny, and she was predeceased by her son, John, whose memory she held close to her heart.
Emma’s pride and joy were her grandchildren, Olivia, Oneil EJ, Riley, Michael, Tyler, Chasity, and Jillianna; and her four great-grandchildren, Patrick, Caitlyn, Harmony and Alzena.
Family was Emma’s greatest treasure, and she poured her love into every relationship. She is also survived by her siblings, Pearl Turcott, Louellen Keefe, and Eddie Gray, held a special place in her heart, sharing decades of memories that defined their close-knit family.
In addition to her unwavering devotion to family, Emma served her community with great pride and joy. For many years, she worked as a school crossing guide, ensuring the safety of countless children and brightening their mornings with her warm smile and cheerful presence. She also owned and co-operated O’Neil’s Lunch Cart for 25 years with her devoted husband O’Neil becoming a beloved fixture in their neighborhood. Their food and hospitality brought people together, creating a space where everyone felt welcomed and cared for.
Known for her warmth and open heart, Emma was a mother not only to her children but to all who crossed her path. Her home was a sanctuary of love and acceptance, and her laughter could light up any room. A pillar of strength and grace, she touched countless lives with her generosity and wisdom.
Emma Boivin’s legacy of love and compassion will endure in the hearts of her family and friends. She leaves behind a family united by her teachings and her spirit, forever guided by her memory.
A private celebration of Emma’s life will held by her immediate family.
Rest in peace, dear Emma, aka EZM…. You will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered, your legacy carried on by all who had the privilege of knowing you.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Maine Veteran’s Home where she spent 13 weeks rehabbing after a fall.
