WATERVILLE — Keegan Cary scored 21 points as the Hall-Dale boys basketball team beat Waterville 61-56 in three overtimes on Saturday afternoon.
Karter Eldridge also had 12 points for Hall-Dale (9-2).
Elijah Cullen led the Purple Panthers (2-8) with 15 points.
GARDINER 60, FREEPORT 41: Trace Moody and Brady Peacock combined for 21 points during a 26-7 surge in the second quarter as the Tigers (6-4) erased an early deficit against the Falcons (2-9) in Gardiner.
Moody finished with 17 points, including 11 in the second quarter as Gardiner built a 33-21 lead.
Peacock and Brady Atwater each scored 12 points.
Conner Smith led Freeport with 17 points.
ERSKINE ACADEMY 56, BELFAST 47: Landen Blodgett scored 16 points as the Eagles won in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference game in South China.
Emmett Appel and Dominic Brann each added 10 points for Erskine (5-6).
Kaiden Benjamin led the Lions (5-6) with 18 points, while Odelyn Simon added 11 points.
TEMPLE ACADEMY 62, NORTH HAVEN 22: Peyton Reckards scored 19 points as the Bereans won beat the Hawks in an East/West game in North Haven.
Gabe Young also had 13 points for Temple (3-7).
Quinton Spence led North Haven (0-8) with 12 points.
PINE TREE ACADEMY 73, RANGELEY 28: Colby Solberg scored 20 points, Collin Verrill added 16, and the Breakers (8-2) built a 46-14 lead in the first half against the Lakers (1-8) in Freeport.
Solberg also had six rebounds and six steals, while Verrill had seven rebounds, two steals and four assists.
Lucky Kabeya added nine points and seven steals.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
LEAVITT 50, OAK HILL 32: Caitlyn McCoy drained seven 3-pointers as the Hornets (7-3) stormed back from a 10-point halftime deficit against the Raiders (2-10) in Turner.
McCoy finished with 27 points and Jordyn Boulay scored 10 for Leavitt.
Shelby Elwell led Oak Hill with nine points.
SKIING
ROY VARNEY CLASSIC: Nora McCourt of Mt. Blue and Beckett Cote of Messalonskee were the individual champions Saturday in the Roy Varney Hornet Classic at Titcomb Mountain in Farmington.
The event was originally scheduled to take place at the Maine Outdoor Wellness Center in Turner but was moved to Titcomb because of snow conditions.
Cote completed the 5-kilometer course in 15 minutes, 54.4 seconds. He was followed by Mt. Blue’s Henri McCourt (16:30), Freeport’s Owen Dawson (16:53.8), Greely’s Tait Harvey (17:05.4) and Brunswick’s Wyeth Mackey (17:23.8).
Nora McCourt’s winning time was 20:26.6. Orono’s Clara White (20:29), Greely’s Rowan Barry (21:09.4), Mt. Blue’s Maya Kellett (21:13.4) and Freeport’s Reed Proscia (21:14.8) rounded out the top five.
Mt. Blue was the boys team champion with 762 points, four more than Brunswick.
Freeport edged Mt. Blue for girls title — 771-766.
