
Normand G. Veilleux
AUGUSTA – Normand G. Veilleux, 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Jan. 7, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at the MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Long Term Care – Glenridge following a long illness. He was born in St. Benoit Labre, Quebec, Canada on June 15, 1942, a son of the late Richard F. and Armandine L. (Blais) Veilleux.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Glenridge staff for the wonderful care and compassion they showed to Normand during his time there.
Mr. Veilleux was a hard worker. He was a “jack of all trades”. He started his career harvesting firewood. He was skilled at operating heavy equipment. He previously worked for Ted Goucher & Son Excavating, Wyman & Simpson, and Rodrigue Builders. He loved spending time with friends, family, and grandchildren. He was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church, member of Le Club Calumet, where he enjoyed preparing Friday Night Suppers, and a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Augusta, Lodge #964.
Mr Veilleux was predeceased by his beloved wife, Therese G. (Labbe) Veilleux; his son, Daniel N. Veilleux and a brother, Mario C. Veilleux.
Mr. Veilleux is survived by his daughter, Jan M. Wright and her husband Barry P. Wright, Sr. of Chelsea; three brothers, Lawrence “Larry” V. Veilleux and his wife Lorn of Gardiner, Michael S. Veilleux and wife Marie of Winthrop and Martin L. Veilleux and wife Drenna of Oakland, three sisters, Priscilla D. Reid of Augusta, Jeannie N. Morin of Augusta, Ghislaine T. Nadeau of Belgrade and Docile Fortin and her husband Leo “Joe” of Sidney; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday, Jan. 16 from 10 – 11 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the spring in Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Rd., Augusta.
