Jeffrey W. Libby
HARTLAND – Jeffrey W. Libby, 63, died on Jan. 9, 2025, in Portland.
He was born on Oct. 5, 1961, a son of F. Wayne and Helene (Loomis) Libby. He grew up in the Hartland area enjoying fishing, roller skating, and swimming. He graduated from Nokomis High School with the class of 1979 and received his degree in education from UMO in 1983. He proudly served our country in the Army Reserves, retiring in 1998.
Jeff was an educator. He taught in Hartland, Newport, Dexter, and finished his career at Bangor High School. He loved sports and enjoyed coaching cross-country skiing and track at John Bapst. He also enjoyed traveling, hiking, and distance running.
Jeff was a lover of music and played the sax well. He participated in the Nokomis Jazz Band and in later years he played with the local community bands during the summer. He was never too busy to help his family with chores and tending the gardens. He enjoyed the times he had spent at the family camp on Big Indian in St. Albans. He is missed.
He is survived by his mother, Helene Libby; brother, Jason Libby and wife Alicia; several nieces and nephews; cousins; and friend, Ed Cutting.
He was predeceased by his father, F. Wayne Libby; and his grandparents: Fred and Edythe Libby and Perley and Helen Loomis.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Route 152, Hartland.
