Helen Rose Dickinson

NORRIDGEWOCK / ELMWOOD PARK, Ill. – Helen Rose Dickinson, 79, died on Nov. 30, 2024 at Sancta Maria Nursing Facility in Cambridge, Mass.

She was born in Skowhegan on Feb. 6, 1945, the daughter of George and Ruth Brown Dickinson of Norridgewock.

She attended elementary school in Norridgewock, graduating from Skowhegan High School in 1963 and the University of Maine in 1967. She received a Ph.D. in biochemistry and biophysics from Oregon State University at Corvallis in 1972.

Helen retired in 2019 from Fresenius Kabi, a global medical technology company in Chicago, Ill.

Helen was a long-time member of the Oak Park Friends Meeting (Quakers). She also enjoyed playing the flute and was a member of the Triton College Community Band in River Grove, Ill.

As Helen’s health deteriorated, she was cared for with love and patience by her sister, Betsy, until it became necessary for her to have more professional care.

She was predeceased by her parents.

She is survived by her brothers Richard Dickinson of Smithfield and Frank Dickinson of Norridgewock, and her sisters Trudy Tremblay of Orono, Colleen Dillon and her husband William of Arlington, Texas, Lorna Bradbury and her husband Gordon of Ottertail, Minn., and Elizabeth Eggleston and her husband James of Cambridge, Mass. In addition, she leaves 12 nieces and nephews; and 14 grandnieces and nephews.

A service of remembrance will be held in Oak Park, Ill. at the convenience of her friends and colleagues in the area. In the spring, after a service in Maine, at a time to be determined by her family, her cremains will be interred in the Sunset View Cemetery in Norridgewock.
