PITTSTON – Philip Richard Marson, 69, passed away on Jan. 16, 2025.
Philip was born on Sept. 19, 1955, a son of Berton F. Marson Jr. and Frances G. (Mann) Miller. Philip grew up in Hallowell and was a 1975 graduate of Hall-Dale High School.
Following school, he enlisted in the Army and received an honorable discharge. As a young man, Phillip worked alongside his father as a projectionist at the Colonial Theater in Augusta, among other local theaters. He also worked at R. H. Reny’s before his 25-year career working for the City of Augusta on the rubbish route. Following retirement, Philip enjoyed working for his twin brother at Central Maine Pyrotechnics, and later at CN Brown (Big Apple), and O’Reilly Auto Parts.
In retirement, Philip kept himself entertained by watching Nascar and trying his hand at the lottery. He thoroughly enjoyed driving and spent many hours of the day driving all over Maine, whether he was going to the West Forks to visit friends, or helping others in need, such as transportation to a doctors appointment.
Philip was an honest and kind man and will be remembered as a genuine person who simply wanted to help others.
He was predeceased by his parents; his siblings, Earl Hay and Suzanne McKay; and a sister-in-law, Carole Marson.
Philip is survived by his siblings, (twin) Steve Marson and his partner, Wendy Barnies of Pittston, Don Marson of Waynesboro, Va., Robin Marson and his wife Peggy of Gardiner, Bruce Densmore of South Gardiner, and Roberta St. Pierre and her husband, Robert of Whitefield; many nieces, nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
A period of visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22, from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME 04330 where a memorial service will begin at 1:30 p.m.
