
Alexander S. Davenport
AUGUSTA – Alexander S. Davenport, 47, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025 at home after a brief illness.
Alexander was born June 20, 1977, in Waterville. He is the son of Sterling Davenport of Sidney, Maine and the late Emily (Soule) Davenport. He was a graduate of Messalonskee High School class of 1996. He went on to further his education at Kennebec Valley Community College, receiving an Associate’s degree in Marketing Management in 2001.
In 2002 Alexander met the love of his life Anne Huchinson. The two were married in 2007 and spent 15 beautiful years together. In recent years the two were able to overcome obstacles and form a meaningful friendship. In 2004 Alexander attended Husson University receiving a bachelor’s in accounting and then he went back to study Game Software Design at Southern New Hampshire University graduating in 2017 with a Bachelors in Information Technology.
Alexander held several jobs in his career field including customer care at T-Mobile and Geiger Brothers. He also spent a number of years working at Public Counseling Group before settling into his most recent employer back in 2018 the Maine Public Employees Retirement System. Alex enjoyed his career very much and was very proud to have moved up the chain at MEPERS to an Account Associate III. He truly loved all of his co-workers like they were family and talked of them often.
He was passionate about his hobbies and had a large friend group who got together to share their love of wrestling. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his friends. Alexander was a talented sketch artist and poet. From a young age he always had a love for science fiction. His favorites were Star Wars and Dr. Who. One of his favorite things to do was to drive to the coast and try to see as many lighthouses as he could, he loved the beach and summertime. He loved sports, especially baseball and basketball and was an avid collector. He was a very devoted catholic and lector at different masses at St. Michaels Parish in Augusta. He was also very active in the men’s group and bible studies. Alexander was a member of the Knights of the Columbus Gardiner Chapter and served the public as a notary.
Alexander is survived by his father Sterling Davenport of Sidney; sister and family Amber, Eric, Madelyn, Jordyn, Kieran Schmitt all of Concord, Calif.; Aunt Maxine Morrisette of Waterville; and a few cousins, one including Tanya Lennon whom became like a sister. He is also survived by countless friends who became family.
Alexanders Visitation will be in the Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church Street, Augusta on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, from 2 – 4 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Alexander will be buried will his mother in the Lewis Cemetery in Oakland in the spring.
