Participants will take an icy plunge into the waters of Messalonskee Lake. Proceeds directly support the center’s programs to combat food insecurity.
Check-in will begin at 10 a.m. There will be a VIP Polar Den Pre-Party at 10 a.m. for major sponsors and participants that have raised more than $1,000. Plunge time will be at 11 a.m.; a Polar Den After Party will begin at noon. All participants and spectators are invited.
Registration in advance online is encouraged; day-of registration will also be available on-site. Individuals and teams are welcome, and costumes are highly encouraged for creativity and awards. Options to sponsor a plunger or make a direct donation are also available.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
