Carolyn A. Lagasse
PRESQUE ISLE – It is with a heavy heart that we announce Carolyn A. Lagasse, 86, was given her wings to heaven on Jan. 15, 2025, at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle surrounded by her loving family.
Carolyn was born in Madrid, Maine, on Sept. 12, 1938, the daughter of Norman and Ruby (Dunham) Spooner. She was educated in Skowhegan schools and married the love of her life, Armand J. Lagasse Jr., in 1958. Together, they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on Dec. 31, 2014.
Carolyn dedicated many years to her career as a bookkeeper at a local accounting office, where she was known for her meticulous attention to detail and unwavering professionalism. She retired in her early seventies, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. A friend to many, Carolyn was a devoted Longaberger Basket Consultant, taking great pride in her role. Organizing and participating in yearly tours to Dresden, Ohio, to visit the iconic Big Basket and explore the Longaberger Homestead. These trips were the highlight of her year, filling her life with joy, laughter, and cherished memories shared with friends. Our mother truly cherished every holiday, thoughtfully planning family gatherings that brought everyone together. She eagerly anticipated trips where she could visit loved ones, attend her grandchildren’s special activities and events, and create lasting memories during treasured family moments.
Leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength and infectious smile, she will be missed by many!!
She is survived by her four children, Debra Dufour of Presque Isle, Jody Dickey and her husband Lonnie of Oakland, Armand “Randy” Lagasse and his wife Michele, of Burleson, Texas, and Theresa Kochis and her significant other Kris Richards of Englewood, Fla.
Carolyn also leaves behind her two sisters, Charlotte Luce of Augusta and Tina Perkins of Skowhegan; along with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carolyn was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Ruby Spooner; her two brothers, Kentucky and Texton Spooner; son-in-law, John Dufour; and grandson Christian P. Kochis.
Carolyn is survived by seven grandchildren, Tasha Dufour and Josh Fisher of Ashland; Megan Miklos and her husband Michael of Clinton, Lyndsay Dufour and Ryan Turner of Castle Hill; Garrett Dickey and his wife Valeria of Costa Rica; Olivia Lagasse and Steve Jensen of Kettering, Ohio; Haileigh Kochis of Maine; MacKenzie James and her husband Dakota of Oakland.
She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, Jaden MacDonald; Ryker, Dylan, and Tanner Miklos; Nayelie, Payton, and Zayanna Dickey; Layla and Elijah Graham; Sutton and Tripp Heffner; and Averie Turner.
A gathering of friends and family will be announced in the spring at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
Carolyn’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Northern Light Health A.R. Gould Hospital and the Aroostook House of Comfort for their compassionate and supportive care during her final moments.
