William “Bill” Wilfred Mercier
MANCHESTER – William “Bill” Wilfred Mercier, 84, formerly of Hallowell, entered the gates of Heaven peacefully with his daughter by his side on Jan. 11, 2025.
He was born on Feb. 21, 1941, in Webster, NH, to parents Wilfred Mercier and Emma (Mathewson) Mercier.
Bill is forever cherished and survived by his only child, Megan L. Mercier, and her husband, Brian J. Crush, of Manchester.
Bill made quite an impact in the city of Hallowell when he and his partner opened The Boston Crop in 1979. Prior to opening their salon, he had been living in Boston but missed Megan terribly. As a result, he and Dan decided to move to Hallowell to be closer to her. After selling The Boston Crop, Bill continued his career in the beauty industry, eventually opening two additional salons over the years in Maine and New Hampshire. In his retirement, Bill enjoyed substitute teaching in the Kennebec Valley area and in Florida.
At Bill’s request, a private gathering in his memory will be held at a later date.
Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared at Funeral Alternatives of Lewiston.
In lieu of flowers,
Megan warmly requests that memorial donations be made “in memory of
Bill Mercier” to:
P.A.L.S. No-Kill Shelter in Winthrop or on their Facebook page
