Sara (Coughlin) Keniston
BANGOR – Sara (Coughlin) Keniston died Jan. 20, 2025, at the home of her daughter in Otis, Maine, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 19, 1941, in Celina, Ohio, the daughter of John and Betty (Betzel) Coughlin.
Sara graduated from Cony High School in 1959 where she made many life-long friends. Over the years, Sara was a homemaker who made a house a home no matter where she was living. She spent countless hours volunteering – girls’ sports/recreation programs while living in Bucksport; political campaigns while living in Ellsworth – but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Sara was an avid reader and sports fan. She especially enjoyed watching her siblings, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and her favorite, grandson Matthew, playing in all different sports throughout her life. She loved to travel, especially her annual trips to NYC with her daughter, Heather, and sister, Kelly.
Sara is survived by her daughter, Heather (Fitzgerald) Peasley and husband Robert of Otis; her grandson, Matthew Peasley also of Otis; brothers, Mickey Coughlin of California, Lawrence Coughlin and wife Diane of Brunswick, John Coughlin and wife Karen of Topsham, and sister, Kelly Stoutamyer and husband Scott of Sugarloaf; multiple nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her parents and sister-in-law, Sally Coughlin.
Sara was a beautiful, kind soul who always had a smile on her face. At her request, there will be no service.
