 
Sandra A. Hickey
GARDINER – Sandra A. Hickey, 84, passed away Jan. 22, 2025, at the MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Long Term Care at Glenridge following visits from family and close friends.
Sandra was born in Bath, Maine on May 25, 1940, to Shirley and John LeMont. Sandra graduated from Richmond High School and married Russell Hickey in June of 1957. Settling in Gardiner, Sandra worked for the Gardiner School system and later in the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office for the State of Maine. She was an avid artisan as demonstrated by her painting and quilting. Sandra was a 4-H, leader an active member of the Gardiner Sports Boosters, as well as a lifelong member of the Highland Avenue United Methodist Church. She very much enjoyed hosting family gatherings and visiting relatives in Kentucky
Sandra is survived by her husband Russell; and her three children, Dennis and wife Debbie of Florida and Maine, her daughter Denise and husband Tim of Farmingdale, and son Daniel and wife Lisa of Norridgewock. Sandra is additionally survived by her brother Thomas LeMont and his wife Linda of Eustis. She was predeceased by her brother Barry and sister Jane.
Sandra enjoyed time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephew. She especially loved watching them swim and fish at her home on Pleasant Pond in Gardiner.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Alzheimer’s Care Center in Gardiner and the MaineGeneral Rehabilitation Long Term Care at Glenridge. Sandra was unwavering in her appreciation of her caregivers at both facilities.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, at Kincer Funeral Home on 130 Pleasant Street in Richmond. Funeral services will be followed by a gathering of family and friends at the Highland Avenue United Methodist Church. A family burial will be scheduled in the spring.
