Dorothy “Dot” M. Johnson
AUGUSTA – With great sadness, we announce the passing of Dot, our dear family and friend, on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.
Dot was born in Bridgeport, Conn., but grew up on Mt. Vernon Ave. in Augusta and graduated from Cony High School class of 1959. She then went on to be a hairdresser for many years. Dot was loved and cherished by all she knew, from her home state of Maine to her second home in Illinois. In the course of her life, Dot lived with a smile, traveled the country, and created many cherished life-long memories with her beloved family and friends.
Dot was a member of Augusta Maine Post Legion 2 Ladies Auxiliary and dedicated much of her time to honoring our veterans. She was known as the “Bingo Queen” because she enjoyed it so much. She organized a weekly bingo game for her fellow Arch Beta residents for many years.
Dot passed, coincidentally, on the same day as her soulmate Karmine “Bunny” Bunnell did 30 years ago. She was also predeceased by her mother, Christine Bishop, father, Ernest Perrault; and her oldest daughter, Kelly Johnson.
Dot will be forever missed by her daughter, Venus Johnson; granddaughter, Melissa Beaulieu; and her companion, Dan Thompson; grandsons Kevin and Joey Johnson; sisters Carol Kilcauski and Donna Genest; the best little brother, Bob Gagne, and his wife Linda Gagne; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and lots of family friends. She was so loved by many.
Keeping with Dot’s last wishes, there will not be a graveside service or viewing. She wanted a simple potluck celebration of life gathering at Augusta Post Legion #2 on Jan. 26, 2025, at 1 p.m. all are welcome to join.
If anyone wishes to send flowers, they can be sent to:
the American Post Legion 2
