The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s School Oral Health Program is accepting submissions for its annual poster contest from Maine school students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade.
Students are challenged to create an illustrated poster on what oral health means to them based on this year’s theme, “Spruce Up Your Oral Health!,” according to a news release from MCD Global Health.
One winner will be selected from each of the four contest brackets: pre-kindergarten and kindergarten, first and second grade, third and fourth grade, and fifth and sixth grade.
Winners will receive an oral health prize basket that includes an electric toothbrush, floss, reading material and toothpaste.
The submission deadline is 3 p.m. Monday, March 3. Contest rules are available at mcd.org. Public voting will take place the first week of March, and winners will be notified by Monday, March 12.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
