Rouleau, (Sister St. Gerard of the Rosary), 89, and a Daughter of the Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, passed to her Loving God on Jan. 29, 2025, at Holy Cross Health Care Center in Manchester, N.H., following a long illness. She was born in Augusta, on July 15, 1935, daughter of the late Adalbert and Olivine (Dumont) Rouleau. Her life was one of devotion to her religious calling, to share her love of music, and to her family.
Sister was pre-deceased by a brother, Gerard Rouleau. She is survived by her brother, Robert Rouleau; two sisters, Arlene Bilodeau and Jeannette Beaulieu, all of Augusta; a sister-in-law, Yvette Rouleau of Hallowell, as well as many nieces and nephews who were all special to her.
Therese was a 1953 graduate of Cony High School where she enjoyed participating in the glee club and the yearly Chizzle Wizzle musical.
Sister made her first profession on June 26, 1956, with 69 years as a Daughter of the Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She dedicated her life in mission to teaching music with a Bachelors Degree in Music from Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y., along with an advanced certificate in vocal music at Laval University in Quebec City, Canada.
Sister taught music at Sacred Heart Elementary School, Newport, Vt., for 13 years. Sister Therese taught in the Berkley Elementary Public School System in Massachusetts, retiring after 25 years. She received much affirmation for her witness and dedication and positive influence with the children and staff. For many years she also became a dear friend and volunteer at the Religious Community at LaSalette Shrine in Attleboro, Mass.
Due to declining health, Sister Therese was transferred to the Holy Cross Health Care Center in Manchester, N.H., on July 13, 2024. We give special gratitude to the staff at the Holy Cross Center for their loving care given to Sister Therese in her final months.
