AUGUSTA — New Ventures Maine is set to offer free online workshops and classes in February and March to help people gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to build a career, start a business and manage money.
Single and multi-session online workshops include:
Building Careers
• Changing Jobs: Finding Work That Fits. This three-session course, 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 12-26, is designed for women to help identify work options and benefits that fit with their interests, skills, and values.
• My Next Career Move will be held in four weekly Zoom sessions of lively activities and discussion from noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesdays, March 5-26. Participants will assess skills, interests and experiences to figure out what career options might be best and create an action plan.
Starting Businesses
• Business Basics, three sessions, will be offered from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 13-27, covering topics such as the business plan outline, marketing, record keeping and cash planning.
• Tax Readiness for the Self-Employed will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25. Designed for sole proprietors, topics include organizing financial records, understand tax responsibilities and more.
Managing Money
• Money Management Workshops from noon-1 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb 12-26. Feb. 12: Budgeting Basics; Feb. 19: Let’s Talk About Credit; Feb. 26: Build Your Savings.
• My Money Works will be held in five sessions from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 25-March 25. This interactive class will focus on making money last, paying bills, reducing debt, saving, planning for retirement, and setting personal financial goals to achieve greater financial stability.
