BATH — The city’s fourth annual Bath Winterfest Community Lantern Parade is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the parking lot of Five County Federal Credit Union, 765 Washington St.
The community procession winds around downtown and arrives at Bath’s Historic Chocolate Church Arts Center.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a source of light to wear or carry. Main Street Bath will hand out 40 pre-decorated paper lanterns with internal LED lights for those who have come without. And the Chocolate Church invites people to its Art Lab for a free lantern-making workshop earlier in the day, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Main Street Bath Winterfest Yeti will lead the parade at 6 p.m. up Centre, Front, Elm and Washington streets, directly to the Chocolate Church Arts Center where the doors will open to welcome the community.
The culmination at the Chocolate Church is a free concert at 6:30 p.m. by the Ideal Maine Social Aid and Sanctuary Band, and free cider. The master of ceremonies, Executive & Artistic Director Matthew Glassman, will conduct a “Parade Across The Stage” so community members can show off their lanterns.
The band will play its signature New Orleans street band tunes. This event is free to the public, with donations appreciated.
