WATERVILLE — The Annual Gene & Lucille Letourneau Ice Fishing Derby is set for Sunday, Feb. 16.

Registration will be held at the Muskie Community Center, 38 Gold St.

Participants can fish on any safe, legal Maine pond or lake of their choice, then gather at the Muskie Community Center during the official weigh-in between 2-5 p.m. Participants ages 15 and younger can compete in their own category. Cash prizes are awarded for first and second place in eight fish categories for adults and 10 categories for youth participants, according to a news release from Lindsay MacDonald, vice president of community engagement.

All are welcome to attend the Winter Carnival, which will include a firepit, s’mores, hot cocoa, popcorn, cornhole, pool table, silent auction (open all day for bids) and food for sale. Arts and craft activities for children will start at 10 a.m.

The Magic of Conjuring Carroll will be held at 1 p.m., and Mr. Drew and His Animals Too at 2 p.m.

Children’s book authors Sharon Hood with her book “Where’d My Jammies Go” and Tonya Shevenell with her book “The Moon Over Malibu Maine” will have books for sale and signing.

Tickets cost $3 for one, $5 for two, or $10 for five. They can be purchased online and at locations including the Muskie Community Center and Backcountry Baits, both in Waterville; Christy’s Country Store in Belgrade; D&L Country Store in Oakland; Harvest Time Baits in Winslow; Middle Road General Store in Sidney; Tri-Pond Variety in Smithfield; Twins Country Store in Augusta; the Cohen Community Center in Hallowell; and at the Spectrum Generations office in Augusta.

Each ticket allows a fish entry and an entry into the raffle prize drawing for a Yeti Tundra Cooler and drink tumblers. Tickets to enter a fish are sold until noon Feb. 16.

The derby is a fundraiser supporting the programs and services of Spectrum Generations including Meals on Wheels.
